Staff Biographies: Shorlette Ammons
Shorlette Ammons joined the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University family in April 2010. She is the Community Food Systems Outreach Coordinator at the Center for Environmental Farming Systems' (CEFS) Small Farm Unit located in Goldsboro.
Shorlette, a former librarian, has a Master's Degree in Library Science from North Carolina Central University. She has developed her growing experience by engaging and working closely with the Goldsboro community over the past 5 years with the Wayne Food Initiative and various community-based food systems projects, including a number of community gardens in the area and a recently established urban farm.
Shorlette's role with CEFS is to continue developing and supporting these local food efforts as well as coordinating CEFS' Discover Ag program which welcomes third graders from all over the county to the farm for a hands-on educational experience.
